DRUNK WITH POWER reviews
Canadian Assault webZine (17/09/09)
I was not sure what to expect from these British blokes. I was pleasantly surprised when hitting the play button. I was greeted a fistful of raunchy attitude and a side order of raw sloppy metallic soup. It is some tasty shit too. But I mean wow this has to be first new crossover band I have heard in a decade at least! As music styles go crossover I find is a love it or leave it alone style. It does not always appeal to metal purists or die hard punk and hardcore fanatics. Crossover generally does not display the depth or emotion some look for in their music. But it is catchy, energetic, rocking and heavy and it is memorable, it always has the ever important head bang factor.
I like the production on here. It is good in general but definitely has a little bit of the old school organic feel to it and I like that a bunch. This is the way it was meant to be. I will take this raw gritty feel over pro tool overdub to death stuff any day and twice on Sunday. Adrenicide would be aces live I am sure. I am sure the adrenaline would be pumping and it would be rather difficult not to sing along with these crude and in your face lyrics and signature choruses. I think fans of DRI, Cryptic Slaughter, Gang Green, early COC and the like will be well pleased with Adrenicide. It is a simple recommendation you know how scarce good crossover is so you know what to do.

Thrash and Crossover has always been an American brand. I do know a few Britain Thrash Metal bands, Slammer and Sabbat for example, but I can't remember any Crossover formation from this country. On the other side Punk music is a British invention, it was one of the most shocking subcultures ever. I can't say I have ever been a fan of this genre, nor the music nor the political ideas mean something to me.
Adrednicide is from the UK and delivers Crossover, a mixture of Punk and simple Thrash. To be honest I am the wrong man to write a review about this band. I do like straight forwarded fast music but in my opinion there still has to be a technical or melodic touch. I can't really find this in Andrenicide. I hear very energetic electric guitars and fast non-varied rhythms. The vocals are pretty poor but I suppose this was meant to be. Rarely I hear a short solo, nothing to worry about.
Fans of Hardcore and Punk might like this band. The fact they're a non-compromising band is a bonus point. Several very short songs can be found on the disc. These guys look like a bunch of Metal heads and I'm convinced they are. If the music talks I'm not that convinced anymore. Only for fans of this style. My Points: 65/100

Goddamn! It feels like I just got my ass handed to me in a circle pit! Hands down, "Drunk with Power" is some
of the greatest crossover since Marvel vs. DC! (That was the WORST crossover! -Ed) It's a thrash-tastic
throwback to when thrash was thrash, hardcore was hardcore, and crossover blended them into beer drinking,
blood spilling, neck breaking, orgy! Drawing heavy guitar influences from D.R.I. and S.O.D., vocal tactics from
Cryptic Slaughter, and a skin pounding blueprint from Wehrmacht (to name a few), these two oldschool
headbangers have been dolling out the metal since '03 but have the hardcore mentality and pound your ass
into the ground attitude of a project from '83!
Want to know the weird thing? The sound quality on "Drunk With Power" is reminiscent of a couple of a band
playing a live show in a public bathroom at the bottom of the ocean… and I could honestly care less! The raw
sound quality if anything enhances the asskickery that this album dishes out in spades. In short fair readers,
how can you not love these guys?
Bottom Line: Head bangin', wall of death startin', crowd surfin', elbow to the face thrash crossover! Fuckin'
oldschool! :) -CS

I got to know this band when a friend of mine suggested I should listen to them. Back then (maybe a couple of years ago), the band was a duet and they were into relentless Crossover/Thrash Metal. Since then, not so many things have changed and the band remains an uncompromising Thrash Metal chariot ready to tear everything apart. If there are times you miss the 80’s, then read below and find out why this is one of your top choices for the years to come. The Crossover/Thrash Metal act was formed in January 2003 by Evaristo and Armstrong, the musicians that form the core of ADRENICIDE.
The band is really into the DIY ethics, releasing everything they have released on their own or to be more precise, through their own label Thrashard Records. I read an interview with these guys, saying that there are currently looking out for bands to sign with their label. The underground Thrash Metal scene seems to be still united after all. So, the UK based metallers were kind enough to send us a copy of their 2006 album "Drunk With Power", even though two years have passed since then and they already have a more recent release (2007). Anyway, who could resist reviewing a relentless Thrash Metal album? These guys have managed to create a pretty interesting, yet totally old school mixture of iron forged Thrash Metal with Crossover touches and some fragments of old pure Hardcore/Punk music. There are times when their similarity with DRI is just amazing!
The guitars are razor sharp, the pounding drumming kicks ass and the not so melodic gang vocals are bringing back memories of the old days, when Metal music was coming straight from each musician’s heart and passion. Yeah, what if "Drunk With Power" is far from being characterized a great album? ADRENICIDE are definitely not aiming to become the next big thing in the Metal scene. They just hope to create kick-ass music that will satisfy both themselves and the fans. As they say, they will never bow at the altars of money or trends. That’s all that has to be said, nothing more. If you are looking for some good DRI meets WEHRMACHT old school Metal manifesto, then these British guys can surely do the work for you! Hold the flag of hate high you crazy motherfuckers! We are waiting for your next assault!

Any recording that starts with the words "Fuck this shit up!" can't be all that bad. Adrenicide bursts into action on this one, and never relents from first riff to last. Every song is a winner! I love it. These guys are so old school. I haven't heard anything that made me want to dominate a circle pit so badly in a long time. This music has a gallop to it, like a full on charge into battle. The vocalist is pretty clear about his being in the scene for a long time, and that he is dedicated to his chosen form of metal. These are anthems for thrash. I mean, who can't stand behind a song like "Fight for the right (to be a dick)" Genius! There isn't much singing. It is much more like loud talking to shouting and chanting.
The lyrics are pretty easy to learn, and scream along on first listen. There are some killer rhythms sunk inside these formidable little ditties. I wouldn't be surprised if they tear down the house when they play. There are also some nice hooks and leads. I'm listening for the mosh parts, and this is where they shine. Adrenicide moves its movement like an unstoppable juggernaut, and that forward momentum is transferred to the listener. Don't come crying to me when you accidentally put yourself through a wall when listening to this.

Adrenicide’s brand of crossover, hardcore, thrash is as subtle as getting in the moshpit and receiving an ellbow to the face, or being landed on by eighteen stone of sweaty stagediver. Their songs are very short, very sweet and shamelessly old school; expect riffs and song structures straight from the ’88 vintage of Wehrmacht, D.R.I., S.O.D., or M.O.D. Adrenicide’s material is specifically designed to whip up a circle pit frenzy. “Raging Full On” is due very soon. Recommended listening for fans of SSS and Gama Bomb, this is not for posers or wimps.

These guys offer a quite enjoyable and energetic thrash/crossover, very close to late period D.R.I. The shorter tracks ("Infernal Waves", "Cradle to the Grave", and especially the 1-min bomb "Little Jimmy") move towards the more aggressive spectre (think Slayer), but in an album of 15 songs they can't really change the picture a lot. And they don't have to, since the music is cool and fast-paced, staying closer to thrash, with very few exceptions: the cool short balladic instrumental "Visiting Hours ....". "Keeps Going Wrong" is a very brutal take on thrash/death, lasting for about a minute. All in all this band captures the essence of how true crossover should sound. Definitely a great CD.

Yet another exciting new UK band, Adrenicide bring back memories of D.R.I.'s later-period metal/hardcore crossover, "Form A Circle" could have come straight from Thrash Zone. Luckily, I love Thrash Zone, and playing Drunk With Power, I could almost feel myself flying back through time to some fondly remembered pits of the past. Fantastic fun and pretty dam good, as well, this is a real rush full of short, sharp adrenaline injection.

Holy hell did this about knock me out of my chair. Killer old school crossover stuff that brings about the true meaning of metal-core. The music is fast punk music with splashes of thrash. The vocals are totally hardcore and I love it. The production is raw and the guitar sound as that garage style that I love. The solos reminded me of Black Flag. I have no idea if this is something old being released, but who gives a fuck this is how crossover music should be and the passion, emotion and feeling just oozes out of this baby. I'll work on an interview as this is some killer music.

I've been a huge fan of thrash and crossover for a long time now and while it inst common that a new band comes along that sounds like they could have been around in 1988, it certainly is a nice surprise. Adrenicide have a strong crossover sound that draws mainly from DRI during their days when they first starting getting metallic in sound. I'm not a fan of throwing out the description old school, but it certainly fits with Adrenicide.
If you couldn't have guessed this is what you would call a fast album. The riffing is fast and sharp with a perfect combination of hardcore intensity and thrash metal chops. This inst what you would consider complicated, but I wouldn't consider it overly simplistic either. The vocals are definitely old school flavored and while they do have a few weak moments I really enjoy the vocal approach. It's nice to see a band playing thrash and keeping the original vocal style instead of throwing in growling or a black metal styled rasp.
What I really like is the fact that the band has stayed very true to the crossover genre. You wont find any blast beats or death metal vocals on here, just straight ahead thrash with killers riffs and a no nonsense vocal approach. If you are into DRI, MOD, or Cryptic Slaughter this one is definitely for you.
